I am delighted to be launching the IVCA UK-China project with the support of the UK Government, through UKTI. This programme provides our industry with a unique chance to foster close links and develop business opportunities in the world’s fastest growing economy.
Over the past decade China’s businesses have grown at an unrivalled rate with tremendous investment in corporate infrastructure. In this time business and political leaders have realised that creating and delivering emotionally engaging and effective messages is both a science and an art and is an area where they have a lack of experience and expertise. Until now, as China has emerged as a global economic superpower, it has failed to establish leading brands either in its domestic market or overseas. This is an area of business growth they are keen to address.

China, having analyzed the areas which are holding back its further development of both internal and external markets, are now keen to learn from and engage the British corporate communications industry through the IVCA. There are a number of reasons why we are the natural choice for developing this industry in China, primary of which is that we are acknowledged as the global centre of excellence for commercial communications.

This programme has two elements. The first is building capacity and understanding in the UK of how to engage in developing business in China. This element will take the form of a series of regional road shows, the first three have been arranged for 29th June, Leicester; 7th July, Glasgow and 10th July, Stourbridge. The second element will be a series of showcase events and engagement tour of China to coincide with the Beijing Film and TV Festival and the Shanghai Expo 2010.

This is a substantial programme which will help UK businesses expand their market place in China and promote the UK as an attractive place for Chinese businesses to invest. It will also further identify the UK’s corporate communications industry as the global centre of excellence and IVCA members as its leaders.

UK Trade & Investment is very pleased to support the IVCA UK-China Programme.

IVCA members who offer excellence in best communication practice would indeed be very welcomed by the Chinese industries that are currently seeking to improve their internal and external communications and to develop worldwide recognition for their brands.

UK Trade & Investment are well positioned both here in China and in the United Kingdom to help any IVCA members who have aspiration, resources and commitment to develop their businesses within the Chinese marketplace.

We are a British Government organization that helps UK-based companies succeed in an increasingly global economy. We also help overseas companies bring high quality investment to the UK economy, working closely with the China-Britain Business Council which is UKTI’s strategic partner in China.

We provide companies with knowledge, advice and practical support and we help companies gather intelligence on target markets and overseas business opportunities. We also support UK companies to participate in international trade shows and overseas trade missions and organise activities to market UK business strengths. In particular, our Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS) is tailored to the needs of individual businesses to maximise their international success.
