Freelancers
What can we do for you?
The IVCA works to represent our industry, to create a community of interest, and to aid business development. To help achieve this we offer freelancers the following services:
- Access to a large range of corporate production companies who regularly require skilled and experienced freelance personnel from all specialities within the industry.
- A regular freelance surgery at which freelancers are offered personal and confidential advice on business development.
- A market-specific employment and recruitment agency, which works exclusively in the corporate production industry.
- Regular networking meetings with production companies, on themes of mutual interest, designed to promote effective business practice.
- Government and industry representation to ensure that freelancers have a voice at the highest level. IVCA freelancers are invited to the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR - formerly the DTI) to debate and raise issues central to their market success and codes of best practice are currently being drawn up between freelancers and production companies to ensure optimum future working conditions.
- Special freelance rates are available for most major events to ensure that all freelancers have access to the full range of IVCA activities. Events include: best practice screenings of both linear and interactive programmes; Creative Leaders seminars; new technology briefings; half day conferences on issues such as crisis management; measuring effectiveness; corporate social responsibility and promoting digital content; and our annual Fellowship Lunch at the House of Lords.
- The annual IVCA Awards recognise outstanding production crafts – creativity and production skills, and the contribution freelancers make to the overall excellence of a programme. These Awards are industry benchmarks and the IVCA publishes the names of the freelancers responsible for the award-winning programmes, and screens their work to production companies.
- The IVCA Business Media Handbook is both the best guide to the industry, and the most valuable self-marketing tool available for freelancers. Your listing within the handbook enables you to raise your profile among 12,000 potential readers. It is regularly used by production companies to source freelance support and members are given free and substantial entries. The Handbook also contains stats, facts and figures about the industry and outlines the specific value-added of each of the full range of communication formats and is very useful for keeping up to date with new developments.
