Group photo the Briffa teamThe IVCA's programme of seminars continued on Thursday 10th July with a very well attended event at the Business Design Centre in Islington. Hosted and presented by our Members' Services legal partners Briffa, the evening event covered a wide range of Copyright issues encompassing Performers Rights, Moral Rights, Rights in Recordings, Ownership Issues, Trade Mark Infringement and touching on many other areas.

Presented by Alex Papakyriacou, a member of the Briffa team, the delegates were reminded that Briffa offered a free half hour consultation for IVCA Members on their dedicated IVCA Hotline (see the IVCA Business Media Handbook) whereby they offered advice on clearance and agreements, representation in disputes, general information packs and fixed fee consultation. The formal presentation was broken down into the larger areas of interest, after which there was a questions and answer session  - an opportunity which proved extremely popular. The event was well attended by IVCA members from around the UK and Ireland and not only found the event very useful, but also enjoyed a brief networking session with drinks at the end of the evening.

The IVCA extends a big thank you to Margaret Briffa for arranging the evening, and to all those that attended.

Briffa will be hosting a similar event for the IVCA which takes place on Tuesday 11th November 2008, bookings are being taken now and we would recommend that you secure your place as soon as possible, as these seminars are very popular.

There are also plans to extend this event regionally and the IVCA are currently seeking partners from the membership based around the UK and Ireland to host such seminars. If your organisation is interested in staging this type of event please contact Dave Comley at the IVCA.

Briffa can be contacted directly by IVCA members on 020 7288 6003.
