So You Want To Win An IVCA Award?
Winning an IVCA Award couldn't be easier...
With IVCA Award entry time fast approaching we offer some advice to those companies who wish to secure a prestigious IVCA Award.
Top Ten Hints:
1: Organise your entries well in advance and don’t leave it to the last minute. This only results in rushing through sometimes inadequately produced entry forms.
2: Check the tape, DVD or CDRom before you send it. If it does not work when the jury see it you will not win!
3: Enter the right category - and if in doubt phone up the IVCA for advice.
4: Fill in the entry form properly. A succinct and clear series of bullet points is more useful than volumes of support materiel unless that material is absolutely directional.
5: Be absolutely clear about the aims and objectives of your project and the market it needs to address.
6: When it asks for quantification of success - don’t just say, ‘the client really liked it’ or ‘everyone clapped’. Yes we really do have such things submitted as the only evidence of effectiveness every year. In a perfect world provide real data but at the very least present us with clear anecdotal backup as to the project’s effectiveness.
7: Ensure that someone you trust fills in the entry form - not the ‘runner’ or some junior member of staff who may not fully understand what is required. The form really matters and is the only way a jury has of understanding the context of the entry.
8: There is nothing wrong in entering the same programme in more than one category if it is of real relevance to that category. This is clearly not a problem when dealing with craft skills but there are also other cases where a project can justifiably be a multiple entry.
9: Phone up the IVCA to ensure that we have received your entry. Each year our postal service manages to loose projects. Don’t let one of them by yours.
10. And finally - Do Enter! If you don’t enter you certainly won’t win!
