Category Awards

1. Best Learning and Development Communications
This award recognises communication programmes, designed to inspire and encourage a behaviour shift, to train people on a new product or service, or educate people on new business procedures or techniques.  This includes learning and development activities designed to improve individual and team performance.  It also includes programmes specifically developed as teaching aids in education institutions, including, schools, colleges and universities. The programme could have been delivered on single or multiple platforms.

2. Best Health and Safety Communications
For exemplary communication programmes which deal specifically with health and safety in the home, community or workplace, in an innovative and engaging manner. The programme could have been delivered on single or multiple platforms.

3. Best Charity and Not for Profit Communications
For communication programmes developed to support charities, not for profit organisations, social enterprises, charitable causes, also recognising programmes which deal with issues of public welfare. This category recognises projects which have delivered a tangible benefit for the not for profit organisation in question. The programme could have been delivered on single or multiple platforms.

4. Best Recruitment and Induction
This category rewards communication programmes designed to attract and/or successfully induct and integrate employees into a particular trade, profession, career or organisation. We are looking for programmes, which can demonstrate effectiveness in attracting new team members and promoting their chosen field. The programme could have been delivered on single or multiple platforms.

5. Best Sales of Products and Services
For the best examples of communication programmes intended specifically to sell products or services, either business to business or to end consumer. Products can range from white goods to luxury cars and services from property to legal advice. The programme could have been delivered on single or multiple platforms.

6. Best Brand Communications
For communication programmes designed to present a company overview or enhance the image of an organisation.  We will recognise programmes that can demonstrate a change in perception, attitude, belief and behaviour of those who the company is communicating or engaging with.  The communication can be aimed at an internal audience, external audience, or both. The programme could have been delivered on single or multiple platforms.

7. Best Public Relations
This category recognises PR communication programmes including business and trade campaigns, which build awareness, enhance a company’s reputation, generate business or promote an issue or area of interest. The programme could have been delivered on single or multiple platforms.

8. Best Internal Communications
This award will recognise communication programmes designed to change attitudes and behaviours of an organisation’s own team or provide them with information, such as corporate strategy. Winning entries will demonstrate how effective the programme was in achieving its objectives. The programme could have been delivered on single or multiple platforms.

9. Best Regular Communications
For communication programmes made on a regular basis (at least quarterly) as part of a series for employees, agents, customers, shareholders or other stakeholders.  This includes programmes delivered via satellite.  The programme entered must be supported with at least two examples from the same series and will need to demonstrate proven effectiveness in achieving its goals. The programme could have been delivered on single or multiple platforms.

10. Best B2C Promotion and Information
For effective examples of business to consumer communication programmes transmitted on broadcast media. These programmes will have promoted the reputation, brand identity of the business in question or provided educational, training or business information materials to the public or end users. Programmes will be recognised for their measurable effectiveness in delivering impact to their target audience.  The programme could have been delivered on single or multiple platforms.

11. Best Digital Communications
This category highlights leading examples of communication programmes delivered digitally to an internal or external audience.  These can include, but are not limited to, Intranets, Extranets, Internets, social networking campaigns, blogs, video/media streaming, augmented reality, digital events, viral activities or a combination of digitally activated platforms.

Production Arts and Crafts

12. Best Animation
For the most creative and effective design and use of an appropriate animation within a communication programme.

13. Best Film
The category recognises the most outstanding film. This may be, but is not limited to, internal use, business theatre, public relations, etc. and could be, but is not limited to, dramas, animation. Judges will be considering the technical film making skills, effectiveness of the storytelling and emotional impact.

14. Best Documentary
This category will recognise the most outstanding documentary programme or series submitted.

15. Best Direction
For direction, which has made the most significant contribution to the overall effectiveness and creativity of the programme submitted.

16. Best Post-Production
For enhancements to the programme that has made a tangible contribution to the effectiveness, style and execution of a programme through the use of editing techniques and/or the addition of graphics or special effects.

17. Best Use of Music
This category recognises the best piece of music or soundtrack, which most significantly enhances a programme.  This includes, but is not limited to, specifically commissioned original music and sound design.

18. Best Script
This category will recognise examples of the most original, creative and effective script writing.

19. Best Photography
This category will highlight best examples of film or video photography.

Special Awards

20. Best Event of the Year – LiveCom
This category will recognise the most outstanding UK or international live or experiential marketing event.  This award cannot be entered directly and recipients will be selected from the 2012 IVCA LiveCom Awards winners.

21. Creative Breakthrough Award
This award will recognise the best response from an industry newcomer to a brief created by the IVCA. Entrants will demonstrate their ability to effectively respond to the challenge within the framework of the brief. To register your interest in entering this category, email CBTA@ivca.org

22. Laurus Award
For the most outstanding production achieved with a budget of £15,000 or less.

23. Industry Award for Communication Effectiveness*
For the production which has had the most positive and verifiable impact on a client’s business.  Submissions are judged on the basis of written evidence. (*Supplementary form required - click here to download).

24. The Grand Prix Award
The recipient of the Grand Prix Award is selected by a jury from all of the category gold award winners (excluding Creative Breakthrough) and is awarded to the most outstanding work submitted.  This award cannot be entered directly.

Please note that there are no discounts for multi-individual projects entering one category each.

Entry Rules

Please take care to read through the Entry Rules before making your submission.

1. The IVCA has the right to refuse late entries.
2. Projects may be entered into more than one category.
3. Responsibility for entering the correct category lies solely with the entrant.
4. Projects entered should either be on-going or have a specific relevance to the period January 2012 to December 2012.
5. Entries must not have been submitted into previous IVCA Awards (not including the 2012 Clarion or 2012 LiveCom Awards).
6. All additional and supporting materials must be supplied digitally. Materials submitted by post will not be reviewed by the judges.
7. There must be no mention in the written part of the entry as to who produced the project, except where the production company may also be the client. All credits must be removed from films and where possible, any supplementary materials submitted, including file names.
8. Any film supplied must be uploaded at the time of submission, except where paying for the upload service, charged at £25 per film (where applicable).
9. In the interest of judging, entrants are advised not to link to films/projects which require lengthy downloading (more than 5 minutes) and should submit their films via the upload link in ‘Step 2’ of the entry site.
10. Responsibility for the technical quality of the film and/or any supporting materials lies with the entrant.
11. Defective material will automatically be disqualified.
12. The judges will disqualify an entry if insufficient or incorrect information is given on the form.
13. Websites and online entries will require a full URL address and any necessary usernames and passwords.
14. Entries must either be in English, subtitled in English or accompanied by a translation of the script in English.
15. All projects must have been cleared for copyright. The IVCA assumes this has been undertaken.
16. Unless stated otherwise by the entrant, material for award-winning entries will be kept by the IVCA for use at IVCA events, screenings and on the IVCA Player.
