IVCA Clarion Award categories

Awards may be presented in the following categories

  • IVCA Champions - for outstanding contribution in the field

Corporate communication categories

The strategic use of corporate media defines relations in the workplace, develops brand equity and maximises company competitiveness. Ethical corporate communications promote both effective business practice and impact significantly not only on social cohesion, but also profitability.

Entries may be made in the following categories:

Category 1: Strategic Communications

Awards may be presented to a company or agency for a communication strategy that could use a range of communication products and platforms to assist in promoting national or international understanding of, and/or engagement in, CSR and sustainable development, or promote aspiration. Awards may be presented in either or both of the following categories:

A) Communication strategy for large corporations (over 250 staff)

  • Internal communication of CSR/sustainable development activity
  • External communication of CSR/sustainable development activity

B) Communication strategy for SME’s (under 250 staff)

  • Internal communication of CSR/sustainable development activity
  • External communication of CSR/sustainable development activity

Category 2-6: Communication Products

Awards may be made for individual communication products. Depending on the quality of projects entered, awards will be presented for exemplary use of each/any of the following media platforms to encourage aspiration or communicate CSR or sustainable development initiatives, and/or engagement in such activity:

  • Video
  • Interactive media
  • Websites
  • Printed materials
  • Live events

Category 7: Advertising and Promotion

Awards may be presented for brand building or public service advertising, and/or promotional materials. Such work can be disseminated on any media platform, but must encourage ethical debate, positive social and environmental attitudes, and/or awareness of sustainable development.

Broadcast media & performing arts categories

Broadcast media play an important role in informing the public of their rights and responsibilities - and this subject matter has been central to the IVCA since its conception. Clarion Awards will be presented for feature films, broadcast TV, radio programmes and performing arts, which promote one or more of the following elements: personal or cultural aspiration, socially responsible attitudes, ethical debate, social inclusion and corporate responsibility.

Entries may be made in the following categories:

Category 8: Feature Films

Feature films or documentaries intended for cinema distribution which reflect any/all of the issues detailed above.

Category 9: Television

Television programmes or series which reflect any/all of the issues detailed above. In the case of series, only one representative programme should be submitted.

Category 10: Radio

Programmes or series which reflect any/all of the issues detailed above. In the case of series, only one representative programme should be submitted.

Category 11: Performing Arts

Plays, dance, music performances or performance pieces which reflect any/all of the issues detailed above. A full statement explaining how the project chosen meets the criteria, accompanied by any relevant support material and/or recordings of performances, should be submitted.

Category 12: Climate change communication

For communication projects that seek to positively influence attitudes about Climate Change by either informing and empowering the audience, explaining why climate change is happening and the actions that contribute to it or communicating the need for collective action to tackle the problem.

Champion Award

IVCA Champion Awards are presented to individual companies or agencies for outstanding contributions to the communication of CSR, sustainable development, social inclusion or ethical debate.
